The value of a small exhibition
1A community group prepared a small exhibition about local rivers. Its members could not afford large screens, and some worried that visitors would quickly lose interest. They decided to use simple photographs and questions that invited visitors to compare the river in different seasons.
2Although the budget was limited, the exhibition attracted thoughtful responses. Visitors stayed to explain differences they noticed in the photographs. The group did not conclude that money never matters. Instead, it learned that a carefully framed question can sometimes achieve what expensive equipment alone cannot.
3The organizers planned to keep the questions in their next exhibition. If additional funds became available, they would use them to improve access to the photographs, not to replace discussion with more screens.
