Questions before a sound walk
1A group was preparing an audio guide for a local park. Before recording, the coordinator met a volunteer beside the entrance. She asked, "Where does the quiet path begin?" The volunteer pointed to a gate behind the information board. The coordinator wrote down the location but did not start recording immediately.
2The coordinator also asked the volunteer, "Is the gate open on Sundays?" He said that it was. Later that evening, she told the group what she had asked: she had asked where the quiet path began and whether the gate was open on Sundays.
3The group checked the route the next morning. Their notes kept questions separate from answers. A question showed what they needed to find out; an answer recorded what the volunteer had said. Keeping both helped them avoid treating an unanswered question as a confirmed fact.
